Our Story:
Our story begins 26 years ago when we decided to take the plunge and open our greenhouse doors as commercial orchid growers. We had a
dream to turn a passion and love for orchids into a company dedicated to offering quality orchid plants, as well as value, consistency and service. It didn’t help that we were both art majors with little business knowledge and less horticultural knowledge, but through trial and error we figured out what it took to grow the best plants and how to run the day to day tasks of a business. So we survived and what started as a hobby soon grew into a thriving business specializing in flowering phalaenopsis, novelty and specialty orchids.
As a family business, we take a lot of pride in doing what we do well, which is to grow and provide beautiful, healthy orchids. Since 1982 we have serviced the high-end wholesale floral industry through South Coast Orchids. Recently we launched Haute House Orchids to make available these same quality orchids to the retail 
customers through online sales via the internet. It’s fun and exciting to offer unique orchid arrangements, corporate gifting and now bonsai palms and plants, just to mix it up a bit, to customers across the country.
We’re a sort of contemporary version of a mom and pop store… definitely not your big box store. We believe in higher quality over larger quantity. Our goal is to offer you a highly personalized service in a simple format. We welcome special orders and can customize the size, color and variety of the orchid and the type of container, making up an arrangement as unique as your occasion, or yourself.
Over the years, Dennis has won many awards, including Best of Class and Best of Show from various orchid societies, (plus he’s a nice guy). As an accomplished grower, he is well respected within the orchid industry and has been featured on KPBS and other media. With a master's degree in art, Dennis' insights bring an aesthetic enhancement to his orchid arrangements.
Along with orchids, Laura’s other passion is Interior Design. She is a certified member of the American Society of Interior Designers and first became interested in orchids to enhance the rooms she designed. She and Dennis have two grown children, their daughter is a graduate of SDSU in tourism and hospitality and their son is a recent art graduate from UCSB.
Haute House Orchids is located in North County San Diego, consisting of 4.5 acres in rural Vista, where the excellent weather, along with the climate controlled greenhouses, ensure the healthiest and sturdiest of flowering plants. (Plus we play music for their enjoyment.)
